You must follow the instructions provided in your test kit for sample collection. Incorrect DNA specimen collection may result in delays in testing, recollection or no results.
***Do not eat, drink, smoke, chew gum, brush your teeth, breastfeed, smoke, or put anything inside your mouth for at least 30 minutes prior to sample collection.***

Helpful Hints #
- You must collect 4 swabs for every individual tested.
If you only send back only 2 out of the 4 swabs for an individual, testing may not proceed. - Put the swabs into the correct specimen envelope.
If multiple kits have been ordered, only collect samples from one person at a time. Complete the collection for one individual before proceeding with the next collection. - The swabs must be completely dry before you seal the specimen envelope.
Remember to allow at least 30 minutes for the swabs to dry before sealing the Sample Collection Envelope. If you skip this step, the DNA may degrade, and you may not receive a result. - Collect cheek cells, not saliva.
The objective is to collect loose cheek cells from the mouth, not saliva.
Private DNA tests are intended for private knowledge only and cannot be used in court.
